The provision of services to citizens is a fundamental part of the activity of local entities. The remunicipalisation of services is an important trend in recent years, while the legislation imposes more stringent requirements for the assumption of new services and for direct management. The article critically reviews these latest developments, especially the emphasis on procedural controls on decisions about the way services are managed, compared to others on the quality of service provision. The imposition of conditions related to the municipal organization or the provision of services through collaboration between different local entities is also analyzed.
